Maria Teresa Francomano was born in Cassano all'Ionio (Cs), Italy, in 1985.

She received the B.S. Degree Cum Laude in Biomedical Engineering from Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, in July 2007. Her Graduation Thesis was entitled "A colorimetric method for automatic detection of bacterial infections".

She received the M.S. Degree Cum Laude in Biomedical Engineering from Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, in December 2009. Her Graduation Thesis was entitled "Development and characterization of a thermal slip microsensor for biorobotic applications".

She is currently a PhD Student in Biomedical Engineering at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, where she started working in the Laboratory of Biomedical Robotics and Biomicrosystems in January 2010, under the supervision of Prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli.

Her research programme is focused on the design and development of novel microsystems for biomedical and biorobotic applications.
