Scientific interests

  • Mechatronic technologies with application to the new emerging fields of Phenomics and Neuro-Developmental Engineering, in both animal and human models.
  • Biomimetic micro-robotics, with application to the biomedical field, including: nonlinear control issues in flapping-wing flight; design, fabrication and development of biologically inspired actuators and sensors.
  • Smart actuators, in particular piezoelectric ones, with embedded sensors for resonant micromechanical structures in low power applications.
  • Power efficiency issues in driving electronics for resonant piezoelectric actuators.
  • Micro/Nano-manipulation. Micro/Nano-fabrication.
