Antonino Salerno was born in Erice (TP), Italy, on 24 August 1984. He received the bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering in October 2006 (110/110 cum laude) and the master degree in Biomedical Engineering (110/110 cum laude) in December 2008 from the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome. His master degree thesis was entitled “Design and development of interaction control system of a machine for the upper limb neuro-rehabilitation”.
He has good skill of programming in C language and he obtained in 2007 the Cisco certificate: “IT Essentials II: Network Operating Systems”.
Since January 2009 has been PHD student at the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, in the Laboratory of Biomedical Robotics and Bio-microsystems led by Prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli.
His research is focused on design and development of robotic systems applied on neuro-rehabilitation. Currently he studies interaction forces in tasks as grasping and object manipulation of the robotic hands. In general, his studies are based on kinematic and dynamic analysis of robot manipulators, biological motor control and neurophysiological models of sensory-motor coordination, design and development of human-machine interaction control schemes for robot manipulators in the fields of robot aided rehabilitation.
He is involved in CIR project BrainHand in his application fields.
